Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET) works with colleges, professional bodies, government institutions, and employer organisations such as auditing/accounting and consulting firms, in the hopes of developing the skills of aspiring finance and accounting professionals, to increase the flow of employment within the sector.


FASSET is known as the Sector Education and Training (SETA) for various financial services, and is the largest employer of people with financial management, accounting, and auditing skills. FASSET launched in 2000, following the Skills Development Act (SDA) of 1998, and has since been involved in finance sectors such as:

  • The South African Revenue Service (SARS)
  • National and provincial treasuries
  • Financial development organisations
  • Investments and trusts
  • Accounting, bookkeeping and tax services


FASSET’s vision is to help with the development of students within the finance and accounting sectors, by improving their skills and equipping them with all the necessary knowledge pertaining to finance and financial management.


FASSET’s mission is to increase the amount of employment opportunities in the finance and accounting sector of business. By developing and growing students with the skills required in the sector, FASSET hopes to facilitate the transformation of finance and accounting services.
