Knowledge of bookkeeping is an important skill to have, as well as the ability to work with finance related technology. To become a financial assistant you need a N4 Financial Management Certificate.

Financial Manager

The purpose of this role is to supervise financial activities within the company. Financial managers have to make sure that the financial department runs smoothly by overseeing the employees’ work.

If you don’t have a BCom degree, you can start with a N6 certificate and gain work experience, so that you can become a manager.

Auditor

As an auditor, you will have the responsibility to determine if a company’s books are accurate and ethical. 

If you work as an internal auditor, you have to make sure that all the financial documents within your company are correct. External auditors do exactly the same, but they are hired by the company and do not work directly for them.

In order to become an auditor you will need a N6 certificate.

Insurance Sales Manager

Insurance Sales Managers need  to come up with strategies to reach the company’s target sales goal . They have to manage the employees’ work within the department to ensure that sales are progressing.

A N5 Financial Management Certificate is needed for this position.

Creditors Clerk

A creditors clerk has many responsibilities, such as recording all transactions into a database and creating invoices for clients.

Other tasks include:

  • Managing phone calls
  • Advising customers
  • Working with a manager to create financial plans
