What Is The Matric Rewrite Course?
The Matric Rewrite course gives you a second chance to get your Matric Certificate. It’s a great option if you wrote your final exams but didn’t pass, or if you just want to boost your marks and do better the second time around.
There are two options you can apply for: the Matric Rewrite course or the Adult Matric Programme.
How Long Does It Take To Complete The Matric Rewrite Course?
With the Matric Rewrite course, you can choose to finish it in 12, 24, or even 36 months—it’s completely up to you. But if you’re looking for the best balance, the 12 to 24-month period is recommended.

Who qualifies for matric rewrite?

- Have an incomplete Matric result or your Matric Certificate
- Be 21 years or older at the time of your final exams

How Many Subjects Can I Rewrite?
With the Matric Rewrite course, you can choose to rewrite up to four subjects. This lets you focus on the areas where you want to improve your marks, without having to redo your entire Matric.

Registration for the May/June 2025 Matric Rewrite has already closed. But don’t worry you can still apply to write in the October/November 2025 exam period. Registration is open and will close on 21 August 2025.

What Are The Steps For The Matric Rewrite Programme?

- After successful registration, you will be able to choose which subjects you are going to rewrite
- Your course material will be delivered right to your doorstep within 5 to 7 business days

- You will need to register for the May/June or October/November exams, which Bellview will guide you through
- You will receive an invitation to take online exam preparation classes to help you get ready for the Matric exams as well as access to past papers and memorandums for the best preparation
What Happens If You Fail Again After Rewriting?
If you don’t pass your Matric Rewrite the first time, you can register to write your exams again. You’re allowed to rewrite until you get the results you need.
However, if you find yourself rewriting multiple times without much progress, it might be a good idea to consider the Matric Upgrade course instead—it could give you the fresh start you need
Matric Upgrade VS Rewrite
If you want to improve your Matric results, you can either do a Matric Rewrite or a Matric Upgrade. Both options help you get better marks, but they are designed for different situations. The one that’s right for you will depend on how many subjects you want to improve and whether you want to change subjects.
