Further Your Education
After obtaining your National Diploma, you can study further to Degree level by joining an articulation programme. This will allow you to transfer your study credits to certain universities in order to continue your studies and earn your Degree.
National Diploma courses are less strict with their entry requirements. As well as completed in less time, at a much cheaper cost than Degrees at universities. Plus, National Diplomas are nationally recognised and can still help you get the same job as someone with a Degree.
What is a National Diploma?
National Accredited Training Education Diploma (NATED) programmes were created and supported by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).
The purpose of the qualification is to give students:
- Job specific knowledge
- Practical training
- Skills required for their chosen career
Is it Accredited?
NATED is accredited by the Quality Council for Trade and Occupations (QCTO). They are also registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
This ensures that all National Diploma qualifications are credible and of high standard.
What does it involve?
To earn your National Diploma, you will need to complete the following:
- N4 Certificate
- N5 Certificate
- N6 Certificate
- 18 Months work based training
What are the requirements?
The entry requirements for a National Accredited Training Education Diploma (NATED) is to have your Matric Certificate or equivalent (NQF Level 4).
