Steps For Receiving Accreditation

In order to receive accreditation, an institution must go through the following steps:

  1. Submitting a letter of intent to apply for accreditation
  2. Compulsory attendance of a Quality Promotion (QP) Meeting
  3. Submission of an online Self-Evaluation report along with required evidence
  4. Registration with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)
  5. Receiving a site verification visit
  6. Submission of an accreditation report to the Accreditation Committee of Council (ACC)
  7. Correspondence sent to colleges with recommendations for a “window period to improve” or a provisional accreditation for their initial application
  8. Decision by the CEO
  9. Monitoring the institution
  10. Reapplication


Monitoring will generally occur continuously, and reapplication for accreditation should be done periodically. Once an institution has gone through these steps, they will receive accreditation from the institution they have applied for.
