Who Accredits NATED Courses?

Bellview Institute of Distance Learning offers the best quality education. Our NATED courses are fully accredited by professional accreditation bodies.

NATED courses are accredited by the following professional accreditation bodies:

NATED courses
are designed by the Department of Higher Education and Training. These courses aim to provide students with formal education that will help them pursue careers in their chosen career paths.

The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO)

The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations sets the standards for the quality of education and qualifications offered in higher education institutions. Higher education institutions are required to meet these standards to show that they are eligible to offer fully accredited courses to students.

The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)

The Department of Higher Education and Training is one of South Africa’s educational departments. It is responsible for the planning, development, and monitoring of all policies for higher education. They aim to provide education that will help students gain the knowledge and skills that they will need for their careers.

The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)

The South African Qualifications Authority is the national accreditation body that ensures that the education and qualifications offered to students is of high quality. They are responsible for developing and maintaining the standards of qualifications.

NATED Courses are registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) by the South African Qualifications Authority.

What Is Accreditation?

Accreditation refers to the ability of an institution to provide high quality education as set by the accreditation bodies. It means that higher education institutions are credible to offer quality courses and qualifications.

Why Is Accreditation Important?

Accreditation ensures that institutions and courses meet the standard quality education requirements. It also helps students determine if they will be receiving the high quality education and qualifications. Accreditation can help potential employers see if your qualification is valid.

What Accreditation Standards Do NATED Courses Meet?

Education and qualification standards are set by the accreditation bodies to ensure that students are receiving the best education. The standards that NATED courses and other courses offered at higher education institutions should meet include:

  • High level of quality from the institution and the services they offer as stipulated by the accreditation body
  • Comprehensive study material used by the institution
  • Available facilities should be of high standards

What Are NATED Courses?

The National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) courses are designed to equip students with the education that will help them join the workplace in their chosen career industry.  They are made up of theoretical and practical courses to allow for thorough preparation of students.

How Do NATED Courses Work?

NATED courses aim to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for building their careers. Each NATED programme consist of two parts, being three theoretical components and a practical component.

The theoretical component will need you to complete three National Certificate courses. Each course will have four subjects to be completed. You will need to complete two examinations and assessments, of which you should get a minimum of 50% to pass.

The National Diploma course is a work based training course. This means that there will be no subjects that will be completed. The practical component will need students to seek employment through the iWIL service that will assist them in finding placement. Students will need to complete tasks in their industry specific Logbook, provided by their study institution and approved by the DHET.

What Is The Logbook?

The Logbook is part of the practical component of each NATED programme. It contains tasks that need to be completed based on the knowledge and skills learned in the theoretical courses. The Logbook for each NATED programme will be based on different aspects needed to be successful in the specific job industry.

The Business Management Logbook will require you to complete tasks such as strategic planning and implementation, and conflict in the business. While the Marketing Management may require you to perform tasks involving the marketing of services, and the organising of sales staff.

You will have to keep a record of the tasks that you have completed within your logbook. You will need to submit your Logbook to the DHET to receive your National Diploma qualification.

What Are NATED Courses Equivalent To?

NATED courses are not equivalent to any other qualifications. The Department of Higher Education and Training designed these courses to have specific purposes and learning outcomes.

They are registered on the NQF system, but are not equivalent to any qualifications on the same NQF level.
