- Gaining scarce and valuable skills
- Flexible learning – study while working
- Get practical experience to join the workplace
- Opportunity to further your studies
- Receive a certificate after every level of study
- Improve your CV
How Do NATED Courses Work?
Our NATED courses are designed to provide students with sufficient knowledge and skills to pursue their chosen careers. The NATED courses are made up of two parts, mainly the theoretical and the practical parts that you will need to complete to get your NATED qualification.
Theoretical Component
The theoretical part consists of three National Certificate courses, where you will gain all the skills and knowledge needed for a career in the industry you are interested in. You will have to complete four subjects for each National Certificate course.
You are further required to complete two assessments and two examinations per subject covered in each course. A minimum mark of 50% is required to pass the assessments and examinations.
Practical Component
The practical part serves as your work based training. Throughout this course, you will be required to use the skills and knowledge obtained in the theoretical courses to complete a wide range of tasks. You will need to find employment to complete your tasks in a relevant working environment.
The Department of Higher Education and Training has developed the iWIL service platform that will help you find a relevant working environment, where you can complete the tasks in your Logbook. You will just need to register for the services, when a spot becomes available you will be contacted.
How Does The Logbook Work?
The Logbook is designed to assess your skills and knowledge in the course you are pursuing. The Logbook for each course has different tasks that will need to be completed. Your employer will need to supervise you and record everything that you have completed.
The Logbook serves as proof of practical work based training that you will have to complete. You will then need to submit your completed and signed Logbook to Bellview Institute of Distance Learning, and we will then submit it to the DHET on your behalf.
Once your application has been processed and approved by the DHET, you will to receive your National Diploma Qualification directly from the DHET.
How Long Do NATED Courses Take?
The duration of the NATED courses will be determined by your mode of study. If you are studying part-time, it could take you slightly longer to complete your studies. However, if you are studying full-time, it can take you as little as 36 months to complete your course.
The length for each course can be broken down as follows:
- N4 National Certificate: 6 – 12 Months
- N5 National Certificate: 6 – 12 Months
- N6 National Certificate: 6 – 12 Months
- N6 National Diploma: 18 Months
